Are angel food cakes suppose to be sticky?!

Question:

Are angel food cakes suppose to be sticky?

Answers:
Yes they can be sticky. They should be light and airy, not gooey, but will be sticky. I work in a bakery and everytime I put lids on the angel food cakes, no matter how hard I try, I always end up getting my hands all sticky.

yes a little

The reason they're that way is because they consist largely of egg whites and sugar -- two very sticky substances! To cut down on the stickiness, dust them with a little powdered sugar. That will absorb some of the goo and make them less icky.
