They are non-hybrid. Which means a lot of work is taken out of producing the seed.
They are very hardy, and have less pampering requirements than hybrids.

They produce at lot of tomatoes at the same time, so picking over time is not necessary.

They do not have to be staked or supported, but can be.

Are very good for shipping.

Plus, they taste much better!

Their easier to grow

Just a few years 2-3 ago they were only about a dollar.
But they are smaller and the Organic freaks are killing us with price
I saw some oinions from Hawhii "maoui wowie' for $3.99 in a less than 1lb bag.

Hey, JST - I'm from Wisconsin and the prices of tomatoes here are out of sight. Everything has gotten very expensive. So romas are at times cheaper that others, but not always. And time of year makes a huge difference, too. Grape tomatoes are by far the MOST expensive here.

It's gets better, they also contain about 20% more meat or less juice.
