How do you cook your steak?!

Question:

How do you cook your steak?

I know it's a weird question, but I am wondering how most people cook their steak: on the stove or in the oven. I cook mine on the stove, but I found out most use a oven. P.S. Pretend that no grill is available. Thanks!

Answers:
I like to make a foil pocket with mine. If you put some spices and vegetables in there and put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about a half an hour, it is heaven.

medium-well

If there is no grill, then I sear them for 1 minute each side on high temp. on the stove in a pan with a bit of margarine.

When they are a bit charred on the outside, I take them off the stove and finish cooking them in the oven at 350 til medium rare.

I either use a grill pan on the stovetop or the broiler.

I start on stove top by searing with a little olive oil, salt and pepper and then place in hot oven for 10-15 minutes, depending on how well done you want the steak.

Well no grill...sooo i made steak last night for dinner...i got the kabobs and i let them marinate in the A1 Chicago Steak House Marinate.yumyum....then throw them into a hot frying pan and cook all the way in there...if you poke the steak with a fork before letting them marinating the sauce gets into the steak and they are tender...

Two ways...

1. I use my George Foreman...

2. Brown the steak on the stove top in a cast iron pan and finish it off under the broiler.

black n' blue (knock the horns off and run it through)

That is( for the uninitiated) an extremely rare-raw steak that is charred on the outside. It requires a high heat to produce.

As far as cooking...I use a grill. I prefer wood coals but propane is acceptable. If that is not available I use "La Plancha" (spanish for ironing). I heat a cast iron skillet way hot and sear the daylights out of a dry season rubbed steak.

stove makes it more delicious

I like mine mooing, so I use a blackening plate, that is done enough for me. For the kiddies, I broil them, this gives a similar texture as grilling would.

the best way is to marinate them for about 1/2 hour first, i use the cheap steak marinate from a dollar store, about 1/2 cup for three to four steaks in a zip lock bag, add to that 1/2 can of coke and 1/3 cup oil, if you like you can add other things like pepper and onion powder but it is up to you. then i put a cookie sheet with a cake rest{rack } in the sheet on the second rack on my oven or the broiler, broil for about 8-10 min, then turn and broil till it is starting to crisp a little on the edges, med rare, it will be great!!!

If no grill is avail. I pan fry. Buy an indoor grill pan.

Or here is a great recipe for a pan fried rib eye:

In a cast iron skillet, on med-med hi heat(get it hot first before adding meat) and with a 2T of oil, sear both sides of meat for about 2-3 minutes.

Remove from heat

Add sliced yellow or vidalia onion and sliced mushrooms and a bit more oil if needed. Saute until onions are soft and mushrooms are tender. (5-10 min maybe at most) Add crumbled blue cheese to onion/mush mixture until melted.

Move mixture to one side and add steak and any juices to pan. Place mixture on top of steak and cook steak until cooked to desired temp.

Remove steak and serve.

Extra rare And alot of beer.

I cook mine in a cast iron skillet on the stove. I sprinkle the filets with coarse salt and fresh ground pepper. Heat up the skillet to medium high. Add a tablespoon of butter. Add the steaks and depending on how thick they are and how you like them cooked, cook them for about 5 mins on each side. Top with more butter and voila' perfect steak.

In a frying pan on the stove. Its important not to cook your staek right out of the ice box. You wanna make sure it is almost about room temperature. This will allow ur meat to cook properly and will be kept very moist. If you put it on the stove when it is still cold, the meat has to take awhile to get hot, in the mean time ur meat begins to burn on the surface and the meat starts to dry out. Med rare is always the best. Always let your steak sit about 2 minutes after cooking before cutting, to let the juices settle. if not when you cut the steak to soon, all the juices will pour out when cutting. Also allow time for your meat to cook on its own. never cook the steak till the temperature u want. After removing from pan the meat will cook a little still. Good luck.

If I can't grill it, then I broil it. I prefer the grill, because I cook it until it's slightly pink in the middle, and then I "Pittsburgh" it- flash it in the fire really quick to give it a crispy coating. Yum!

i like mine in the stove..because its not dry when it comes out..and it just takes a shrt time to cook them in stove
