Can I use powdered buttermilk for a buttermilk pie?!

Question:

Can I use powdered buttermilk for a buttermilk pie?

I would like to make a buttermilk pie. I don't have regular buttermilk, but I do have a can of powdered buttermilk. Can I reconsitute that and use it in the pie with the same results?

Answers:
You sure can; in fact, that's what powdered buttermilk is for. I don't usually keep buttermilk in my refrigerator, but I always keep a can of the powdered stuff on hand.

To make sure it blends well, first mix the dry Buttermilk Blend with the other dry ingredients. Then add the appropriate amount of water when the recipe calls for liquid buttermilk.

It should be great. Good luck!!

you can probablyreconstitute and it would be just fine- but to make your own butter milk you can just add a tablespoon or two of vinegar to a bowl of milk- it will make butter milk...

sure! also you can make your own with regular milk . just use 1 tbls. of lemon juice or white vinegar per cup of milk. then you let sit at room temp. for about 5 min. and you have buttermilk. but the powdered is just as good if not better.

?
The recipe is on the box /can...

I love buttermilk pie. I make it about 2 or 3 times a year. I don't know if powdered would work well or not, but I personally would not chance it. It's a special pie at my place and I would be afraid it would not come out as good.
