I have whole pitted kalamata olives but recipe calls for pitted, what to do?!

Question:

I have whole pitted kalamata olives but recipe calls for pitted, what to do?

I bought a jar of whole kalamata olives. It just says whole on the jar. Recipe calls for whole pitted kalamata olives. Do I just leave them be and assume they're pitted or do I need to "pit" them, if so, how?

Answers:
throw them out and go find some that are the right kind

If the jar says pitted then they are pitted. To check just cut into one to see if the stone is still in it. If you need to pit the olive a cherry pitter works well or use a paring knife and do it by hand.

I usually just make a cut on one side of them and then use my thumb to pop out the pit. It comes out real easy. You deffinatley don't want to use them with the pits in if people aren't aware of it. It could be choking hazard.
