However, if your in North america, when you say squash, you probably mean Summer squash, winter squash, and others, they are just squashes that are harvested at different times during thier maturaty

A pumpkin is a squash .. There are summer squash ( Yellow, Zucchini, Crookneck, Etc. ) & winter squash ( Pumpkin, Acorn, Turban , Etc. ) Summer squash do not keep well ,as winter squash can be stored for " over the winter " in a cool dry area !!!!!!!!
