Rate or comment on my dinner menu?!

Question:

Rate or comment on my dinner menu?

I'm having a family dinner for 7 people, all of whom seem to have multiple food intolerances or food dislikes that I have to work with. I only have a small kitchen.

I'm making lamb and vegetable casserole with pumpkin and mint flavouring, served with crusty dinner rolls; dessert is peach and blueberry crumble with oatmeal topping served with vanilla yoghurt.

Oh and it's late autumn, early winter here.

What do you think?

(And I have asked them, but they're the kind of people who say anything is fine, even if it's not).

Wow I can't believe how many people don't like or have never eaten lamb! It's like our national dish. HUGE advertising campaign which strongly implied you were either homosexual or a communist if you didn't eat it.

Your menu sounds great, but be cautious, lamb is too gamey for some tastes.

sounds great !what to drink...and salad. have fun.

wow, picky people are the worst!
personally, i thought lamb was one of the meats that is definitely one of those 'acquired tastes' meats. but if you know for a fact that the 7 people don't oppose lamb, then that's fine. if you DO think that maybe lamb might be something you might not want to risk serving, then i suggest serving turkey! everyone (asie from vegetarians) likes turkey! the veg casserole with pumpkin and mint flavoring is abit odd to me. i DO know lamb and mint go together, but i don't think pumkin and mint go together. rolls are fine, make sure they're not rock hard/tough, and make sure the butter is soft and spreadable. the dessert sounds very delicious. and if you go with the turkey as the main meat, then how about throwing a thanksgiving style meal complete with mashed potatoes, vegetables and dressing/stuffing?

good luck with your family dinner!

p.s. i'm not sure what vege casserole is, but i think you might want to add more vegetables.

I think this menu is superb. Not only tasty but ready ahead of time so you can spend time with your guests and not in the kitchen. I am sure they will enjoy this delicious meal.

I personally have never had lamb, so I can't comment on flavor. However, I, myself, enjoy putting together menus from recipes that I acquire, ranging from from party menus, romantic dinners, kid-friendly, and elegant dinners for a group. I think that your menu sounds very nice, and "classy", so to speak. I would advise you to add in a salad or perhaps a kind of pasta or veggie, to round it out. Just remember, sometimes you can't please everyone at once, so if someone goes a little unsatisfied, don't fret. They should be pleased with the effort that went into making the meal. I doubt that anyone will be unsatisfied, though, because it's not the food that's important at a gathering, it's the people, and the experience. Hope it goes well!

Sounds wonderful to me! But if you've got fussy types you may want to make a few more sides and a big salad so they won't go hungry. You said they wouldn't say anything if they didn't like it. Also maybe two desserts like a chocolate cake and ice cream. Be kind to the finicky!

It sound delicious what time are you having dinner lol

The mint is going to clash with the other ingredients. You should leave it out.

I could do without the Lamb, but I would be able to tell that you went through a lot of trouble. So I would tell you how wonderful it all looked and would definitely save room for that great sounding dessert.

It sounds delicious hopefully they will enjoy it, I am an assist Food & Beverage Manag so for me i think it will be perfect however Lamb meat is a little bit Fatty so be carefull i prefer veal rose insted its tender and less fatty.

Sounds great to me! Apple cider would be a perfect drink with that menu, too.

Correction: ''I'm having a family dinner for 8 people''
I'm coming over. Shame on you for not inviting me!

But otherwise it sounds grrrrreat! I'd just make something along with the lamb in case some people don't like it.
