i would just because its getting so hot now and higher risk of food poisoning if left out...besides even if you didnt use the sour cream you have eggs in it aswell so its a good idea to put it in the fridge...i think cake after its been in the fridge and cold is yum yum..

Well, everyone seems to think so, but I've never officially heard that in any food safety warnings. If you normally cook a cake with milk and don't refrigerate it, why would sour cream be any different?
In any case, leave the cake at room temp. for an hour before you serve it. That is perfectly safe, and it will taste much better, as the fat in the cake will be at room temperature rather than chilled (same principle as cheese).
