How long can you keep Miso (soybean paste) in the refrigerator?!

Question:

How long can you keep Miso (soybean paste) in the refrigerator?

I usually use it to make soup or as a marinade for fish. I noticed that the container doesn't have an expiration date.

Answers:
Miso is one of the most durable foods I know of. Although I don't recomnend it to anyone I have had miso in my fridge for months. As long as it doesn't change color or smell it's fine to use it.

Miso is a very durable food as well. After opening a package of miso, it will keep for several months. Even if mold starts to form on miso, it's harmless.

I just cook one right now and if I remember it right we bought it 3-4 weeks ago (when I'm home) we market together weekly. But my wife kept in the freezer minus the container of course. I guess maybe a month or so. She went out so I can't ask her for the exact answer. usually observe for color or scent change to know if it is still good.
