How can I thicken yogurt ?
I want to thicken some yogurt that I have. It is just the flavoured yogurt that you buy from the supermarket - yoplait 'tropical' flavoured.
Thanks

get a tupperware or anything with holes in it, spread a clean thin towel over it making it take its form, pour the yogurt on the towel and put it in the fridge put a tray or sth under it so that the liquid that drops out of the yogurt doesnt mess up ur fridge!
the longer you keep it the thicker it gets!
it needs about 24 hrs to get so thick.
I don't know how to thicken it, but next time you might want to try Yoplait Thick and Creamy...you might like it much better.
You can't. I suggest you buy one that is already thick. Try Dairy Farmers thick and creamy. It is REALLY thick and is the best flavoured yoghurt.
You can absolutely thicken yogurt and it's done to intensify yogurt based sauces like riata and tzatziki.
Simply place the yogurt in a strainer resting over another bowl and place it in the fridge. One hour is usually good enough but you can even do it for two. The excess whey will drip into the bowl.

Place cheesecloth in a measuring cup so there is a space below it and place the yogurt into it. The liquid will seep through the cheesecloth and the yogurt will thicken.
Place it in a strainer and separate the whey out. Thats how many of the cheeses are made.
Thickening yogurt would suggest some method of giving substance to the flavoured yogurt you have,i don't think there is any way of doing this . Th e method of placing in a strainer is merely a way of draining away the liquid whey leaving you with the solids of the yogurt ,which naturally will be less in bulk.since it is now free of liquid ,if thick yogurt is what you usually require it is best choosing a brand that is thicker & richer in flavour.
