Question:

How do i cook a baked potato?

How do i bake a potato in the oven?

Answers:
I promise, either of these methods will give you a perfect potato!!!

Preheat .oven to 400 degrees. Wash and scub potato. Pierce several times with a pronged fork. Put potato in oven for 45 minutes. Cut open and enjoy.

Short version

Do above but precook in microwave for 6 minutes. Then put in oven for about 20 minutes..is as good as oven baked...Microwave baked potatoes are too "wet'..

don't forget the butter, sour cream , cheese and bacon bits :)

put it in the oven. U just answered your own question

I would wrap it in tin foil and don't set the oven temp. too high. Check them often to see if they are soft.

Cut a cross in the skin on the top - not a deep one, just so the skin doesn't burst open - then bung it in the oven at about 170celcius for about an hour. If you don't want the skin crispy wrap it in foil first. Test it after an hour by sticking a sharp knife or skewer in and if its soft inside and the knife goes in easily, then its ready.

if you are only cooking them in the oven it will take about 2 1/2 to 3 hours about gas mark 7

of course this depends on the size of the potato check them from time to time.

in the microwave 1700 watt--5 mns

put salt and oil on the skin - wrap it in foil and put in the oven medium heat for 90 mins.... If you have a microwave, nuke it for 8 mins first, then oven for 30 mins

Wash the skin thoroughly. Wrap in tin foil and place in a 450 Degree oven for about 45 mins to an hour depending on how large the potato is..or the easy way , take fork and poke each side of potato real deep .Nuke in microwave for 5 mins ,turning over half way .Med to large potato for that time.

Wash the potato; grease it with butter; sprinkle with sea salt if desired; wrap in foil bake in oven for 35 minutes at 350 or until done. Or you could microwave it for about 7 minutes in some press and seal wrap.

Scrub it. Prick it. put it in the oven. Some people butter the skins, some wrap it in foil. Some put it in a hot oven, others put it in a cool oven for hours.

do it in the micro wave , easier and do it for about 2-6 minutes of something. then cut half way down in the middle and serve with cheese,cos-law,baked beans and lots more . yummy !

Poke it with a fork all round to allow the heat to get in, coat it in extra virgin olive oil and rub a little salt into the oil and bake at 190C for about an hour depending on size

Better still throw it onto a bonfire and let it cook until the skin is burnt to a cinder, absolutely delicious with butter

Boil it first for about 20 minutes whole

wrap it in alum foil and bake for about an hour at 350

Perfect every time

There are three different ways to make a baked potato.
1. In the microwave. If using the microwave, put the potato on a plate and put it in the microwave until it is soft enough that when poked with a fork, the fork will slide out without you pulling it out.
2. In the oven. If using the oven, set it on a cookie sheet and put into the oven. You can wrap in foil if you want to. It will be done when a fork slides out of it.
3. On a fire. If it is nice outside and you want a baked potato, wrap the potato in foil and throw it on or in a fire. This will only take a couple minutes if you threw it IN the fire. It will be done when a if soft and a fork can slide out of it easily.

ENJOY!!!

Wash it then cover in tin foil and bake.

1. Put a little olive oil and salt and pepper on the skin of the potato.
2. Wrap the potato in foil.
3. Set the oven for 475 degrees.
4. Bake the potato in the oven for 45 minutes.
5. Take the potato out of the oven and out of the foil and eat it with butter, cheese, sour cream, chives, bacon bits, etc.

You shouldn't microwave anything but popcorn.

If you have a microwave, use a knife to prick potato, put it in for 5-8 mins. then turn your oven to 200 degrees put potato in and brown for 5 mins. Bon Appetit!

If its baked - it's already cooked - okay, so enough with the smart alec answers-lol. I prefer to scrub the outside skin and then rub the skin with butter flavored crisco roll in kosher salt then place in aluminum foil and make sure the foil is tight. Place in a preheated 450 degree oven until done - anywhere from 45 to 70 minutes depending upon size of potato. Test for doneness by gently squeezing potato(make sure you use glove or towel) if potato feels soft - it probably is completely done. OOPS!! I forgot to say tostart with a really good potato usually an idaho as the high startch content will make the baked potato delicious!! -- Enjoy -k-

Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Clean potato and poke with fork in the middle and place in oven on aluminum foil.
Baked for 45 minutes.

If you want it faster

Place in microwave for 6-8 minutes first before putting in microwave (make sure you poked with a fork before putting in microwave).
Then 20 minutes in oven.

i wrap mine in tin foil with a little salt and pepper and a knob of butter and cook it slow gas mark 3 for about 1 hour mmmm lovely

If you want a true baked potato, don't do it in the micro, you will end up with a steamed potato. This is fine if you're in a hurry, but it won't have the crispy skin and it won't stay together well when you open it. You can also do a baked potato partway in the micro to save oven time. It's important to poke it with a fork several times so it won't explode.

For a true baked potato, scrub your potato well and dry with paper towels. Poke several times with a fork to let the steam out while baking. Bake at 350 degrees F for one hour, then test for softness. Split open lengthwise and serve with butter, sour cream or whatever you like.

Only one potato???
Have you thought about the cost of the electric or the gas???
The BBQ and fire is far cheaper and the flavor superber..!

you put it on a oven proof tray and then put it in the oven. put it on a *C that you want it to cook in.

but keep an eye on it

also before it goes in put a hole in it. if not it will explode

scrub the skin with some water score a couple of cuts to stop the skin bursting as you cook it. lightly rub sea salt into the skin, can also add a little butter for a really crispy skin. wrap in foil bake in a moderate oven 180 degrees C for 45mins, remove foil stick a sharp knife into the potato if you feel it is soft and fluffy leave the foil off and just firm up the skin for ten minutes if there is a lot of resistance in the centre of the potato leave it in the oven for another 30 minutes and try again

SCRUB IT AND COOK IT FOR 20 MINS AND ITS BETTER IF YA SLICE IT AND PUT CHEESE IN IT....

scrub them score them around widest part spray them with spray light[or if you have no spray try oil and a brush] them sprinkle them with salt put in a hot oven turn them after half an hour coat them again with oil and salt leave another half hour, stick a knife into them to see if cooked, if they are not leave a little longer.

Cut a cross in the top with a sharp knife and then cook in microwave for 5 or 6 minutes. Put in oven and back for 30-45 minutes - perfect!
