For or against deep fat fryers?!

Question:

For or against deep fat fryers?

I have noticed how people are either loving deep fat fryers, or completly hate them. So who has one? and if you do does it take pride place in the kitchen? Is it used alot?
If you dont have one, do you hate them? would you ever consider buying one? or are you totally aniti- deep fat fryer?

Answers:
I threw away my deep fryer a long time ago. It's just not a healthy way to cook foods. That's not to say I never fry anything EVER, but if I'm frying something I'll use a pan with oil instead. I don't need to take up room in my kitchen with a big appliance I would not use very often.

Rather than fry, I'll usually cook the food I want to crisp and then brush a little olive oil on top and put it under the broiler for a couple minutes on each side. It works like a charm and uses very little oil.

I would love one, seems like they'd fry more quickly and evenly than pan frying.

anti deep fat fryer.

My butt loves it but I hate my butt so I try to stay away from deep fat frying, its easier if i dont have something like that to make it easier

I use to have one but they take so much oil I just gave it away.

I had one. I received it as a gift. I've used it - but who wants to eat deep fried food that often? It takes a couple of litres of oil, so unless you use it often, you have to empty it and either throw out the oil or store it . I finally gave it away. I also found that mine didn't get quite hot enough to do a good job.
Now, that being said - I will not deep fry on top of the stove. I have a friend who got badly burned that way. I'll just use my electric frypan for the odd time I need to fry up some egg rolls.
So if you like to deep fry often, get one.

I love deep fried foods, as bad as they may be to your health.

As for fryers, I'm mixed on those. It's nice to have them, but it's such a waste of oil. You really have to use a LOT of oil for even the simplest of recipes, and it's best to discard the whole lot of used oil afterwards. I know a lot of people will say you can save it for future use, but it'll make your next food taste pretty lousy (think of old oil used for McDonalds fries). Then, there's the splatter problem. It just seems to get all over your walls and countertops. Not pleasant to clean up.

I know I'm sounding more negative towards deep fryers than positive. I've had a couple of these units in the past, and after the first few uses, it never got used again. The first use is always delicious, but after that... ugh.

It all depends on how much time and effort you want to spend. Remember though, you can accomplish the same things in a deep frying pan, like deep fried chicken, for example. So keep that in mind.

Good luck!

I'm for the tastey goodness of deep fat fryers but agains the unhealthy badness.

Personally I don't use a fryer. I don't hate them, it's just easier to use a good cast iron pot.

love my deep fryer, use it alot

for but i dont use it all the time becuase it is fattining but when i do use it is soo good!like onion rings and fries are soo good if they were in the depp fryer!
