Is there an herb or spice that's a good replacement for cilantro?!

Question:

Is there an herb or spice that's a good replacement for cilantro?

A lot of the recipes I make use cliantro. But my friend is allergic to it. Is there an herb or spice that's a good replacement for it?

Answers:
I use flat leaf Italian parsley instead. I do not like cilantro in my food--I feel it overpowers the taste of the recipe. Parsley is definitely the way to go--gives the green color without the bite. I take the fresh parsley, put it in a coffee cup and cut it with scissors. It's much fast than chopping it on a board.

Parsley

not as flavorful but parsley

not many people like cilantro. i don't like it. maybe you should just not use it.

No

oregano, parsley, culantro...

parsley.

you could use parsley.. although the flavor is a little off... use onions and lime... thats what i do when i dont have cilantro... but it depends on what you fix u know..

Try fresh coriander or Italian Parsley

Cilantro is another name for coriander. If you want the green flakes, you can replace cilantro with parsley but still flavor the dish with ground or powdered coriander seed.

italian or flat parsley

either parsley, or oregano, which has a different flavor

You can substitute with any herb which he or she is not allergic to. I like to use Parsley (but may be the same as cilantro), mint, rosemary, oregano, thyme, and basil to substitute any of the mentioned herbs here and those has not.

I'd use some cumin for the heat, and add a splash of lemon juice for the that slight tang that cilantro has. Parsley is good for the color, but it's just too mildly flavored to be a good substitute.

For colour and similar looks try flat leaved parsley. For the little bit of heat cilantro has try a little graound coriander seeds or tabasco
