How do you cook corn on the cob on a barbeque?
We're having a Barbie and we don't know how to cook corn on the cob....do you need any fat or butter to help it cook or do you put that on after you've cooked it?
Thanks for your help!
Answers:
I am pretty sure you have to boil it, in water, like most vegetables. Maybe put a pan of water on the barbecue?
ok first you wash the corn till the dirt is off.second you bathe it in melted butter. third you just put it on the grill till pleased.by the way NO FAT
wrap it in tin foil with some butter and garlic and put it on early and what time should we arrive lol:-)
i will bring the beers
There are a number of ways for grilling corn and many of them work well. The two recipes below are both very good ways that explain how to cook corn on the cob using a grill.
Grilled Corn on the Cob
8 Medium ears corn, husked and de-silked with ends trimmed
8 tablespoons of butter at room temperature
1/2 tablespoon sea salt
1/2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
Heavy-duty aluminum foil
*Combine butter, salt and pepper and mix well
*Center each ear of corn on a square of heavy-duty aluminum foil
*Generously coat each ear of corn with the butter mixture
*Fold in ends of aluminum foil and roll up ears of corn in the foil
*Place corn on the grill for 10 - 12 minutes with cover closed but periodically turn the corn
Some people (more and more) do not like using aluminum or aluminum foil when they cook food. There may be the possibility of contaminants attaching themselves to our food. I understand this and so I give you another way to BBQ corn on the cob.

Another Way To Cook Corn On The Cob Using Your BBQ
8 Medium ears corn, husked and de-silked with ends trimmed
8 tablespoons of butter at room temperature
Kitchen string or twine
*Pull back the husks on the corn but do not remove
*Remove the silk from the corn and cut off the very end
*Soak the corn in cold water for about 30 minutes
*Remove the corn and pat dry
*Brush each corn on the cob with a generous amount of butter
*Fold the husks back down and around the corn and twist the ends or tie the ends closed (I use kitchen twine)
*Place the corn on the grill directly over the heat, turning the heat down to medium or medium-low
*Cook the corn for about 8 minutes but turn each cob frequently so as not to burn
When done, the corn should be spotted with a little brown but not totally charred (a little is fine)
This particular method (using the husks) is attractive and appreciated by many of my restaurant guests as they observe the cooks at the BBQ during the summer months on the patio.
cook in boiling water 4mins then finish on barbecue to get flavour. You're not pampering it - what's with bathing in butter?!
or do what Dave n Kez says, sounds good
i soak the corn in water a couple hours b4 grilling then about every 15 min. sprinkle with more water or dip in a bowl of water to keep them from drying out . takes about an hour at med temp.
Get a fairly large piece of tin foil. Put the corn in the middle of the foil and rub the corn with butter and sprinkle with salt and any other seasonings. Place the foil wrapped corn on the barbeque (but not in direct fire) and roll the cobs occasionally to make sure that they cook evenly. After about 10 minutes, stick a fork through the tin foil to test for doneness. Fork check in more than one spot, since cooking can be uneven. Kernels will be soft when the corn is done. Remove from grill and cool a bit. Take foil off and eat!
hope that helps
Its real easy ! You can open the leaves and remove the silk first, and season as you like, then wrap the leaves back up around it and put on the grill, or you can just put it on 'as is' Use a lively fire, right after the flames have settled.
Grill the corn, turning often, until the first layer of husk is completely charred. Depending on your fire, this could take from around 5 to 10 minutes. You can push the corn to a cooler spot if you're grilling other things for your meal, or transfer the grilled corn to a platter and keep it warm in the charred husks until serving.
wrap it in tin foil with butter! have a yummy bbq!!
you can soak it in water then put it on the grill husks on
you also pull back the husks
look under grilling corn ....I'm sure you love any way its cook its better than throwing it the pot
check it out ....... try some red plums with some sugar
rib eyes put some sugar on the steaks too

season it with salt, pepper and other spices you like, chilli, lemon pepper, thyme. then brush foil with butter and wrap corn up in the foil then onto the bbq, turn every few minutes for 10 minutes. let rest for 5 mins, peel back foil and eat!
soak your corn husk and all for about 10 to 15 minutes in water shake off any excess water and lay them on your grill or if you have a fire pit just wrap them in tin foil after soaking them and throw them onto the grate ether way turn them until all sides are cooked without the foil the husks will start to dry out but the moisture from the water will cook the corn as if you boiled it kinda just like steaming them but the taste is a lot better peel the husks after removing and butter and salt to taste just be careful they will be quite hot have fun and good eats to you
There are two good ways too cook corn on the grill. One is, if it is still in the husk just put on the grill the way it is. But if has all ready been shuked put the corn in aluminum foil ( heavy duty) then put it on the grill. And no you don't need any fat to cook it. But butter is good on it after it's done.
well i can tell you i do this all the time and you don't need anything and you don't need to soak it you just put it on the grill on med heat and and turn it when it changes color (a brighter yellow) when all sides have been cooked you are good to go. it takes about 5-8 min total. if you use a high heat it will roast to a nice brown, the roasted flavor is wonderful.
firstly u have to par-boil it then u can put it over the BBQ.but be careful tht u dont burn it too much.
I just wrap it in foil, no seasoning, and put on a medium heat grill for AT LEAST 10 minutes, normally closer to 15, turning every 5 minutes.
Parboil them first for about 10-15mins in boiling water. You can let them cool if you want. When you BBQ them turn them regularily and baste the with butter. Don't put them in the hottest part of the BBQ ourwise the outside with burn. They'll need a good 15mins on the BBQ - but don't leave them - give them all your love and attention and they'll repay your efforts.
there are two way I like it still in it's leaves and baked on the side then before removed browned a bit and served with salt and lemon juice YUM YUM YUM oh yeah don't forget to presoak your wooden skewers before you use them
dab a bit of butter on it and a sprinkle of black pepper and wrap in alfoil. Will be absolutely delicious after about 30mins or so. Just unwrap and check if cooked.
Hi!
An easy way is to spread a little butter on your corn cobs and then wrap them in baking foil before putting them on the BBQ, turning from time to time. You can if you wish add a few herbs before you wrap them.
Alternately, simply place them on and add stuff once they are done to your liking. Delicious either way.
Good wishes.
one way: open the husks and pull them down but not off, remove the silk, brush with whatever you wish, replace the husks and wrap in foil and grill
or
another way: prepare a wrap: place a layer of parchment paper over a layer of aluminum foil to protect the corn from the foil, do whatever you wish with the corn, wrap it ( parchment side of wrap to touch the corn) and grill it ...
p.s. do not cook corn more than 4 minutes in boiling water ... it simply ruins it, especially when you are lucky enough to get corn straight from
the garden ...... adjust time to suit grilling for a short time also ...
I just wash it take of the silks and put it on the barbie first before anything else and cook it till everything else is cooked. Delicious and very easy and the kids LOVE them!
You need to boil the cobs first, then you get some tin foil and lather the corn in butter and a little salt then wrap them up in tin-foil so the butter drizzles through them and they are sealed. When they are properly cooked you can remove the tin-foil and give the the last few minutes on the open fire just to give them a slightly browned appearance, lather some more butter, preferably whipped butter, and serve...yummy enjoy your B-B-Q.
