How do you melt chocolate?!

Question:

How do you melt chocolate?

I tried it with a saucepan- BURNT! Tried the microwave- BURNT! I need help! Try to be as specific as possible!

Answers:
The best way is to use a double broiler. What you do is take a sauce pan and fill it up with water. Put it on the stove and turn on about an 6. Then take a bowl that fits in the saucepan without falling into it and put the chocolate in the bowl. The water from the saucepan will melt the chocolate. Just remember to keep stirring the chocolate.

try a double boiler , it's like 2 pans in one and the one on top is where your chocolate goes , it will go creamy and will not burn! ....or get a fondue pot?

in a double boiler. if you haven't one put the chocolate in a bowl and then put the bowl in boiling water and it will melt slowly. Don't get any of the water in the chocolate or it will spoil

You probably have your heat too high on your stove. It takes low heat and constant stirring.

use body heat? just like those m&m chocolate commercials.

stainless steel owl over a saucepan that has 1 inch of water in it. chocolate goes in the bowl and pot goes on the heat. simmer for about6-10 minutes,
Microwave needs to be short 15 sec bursts then stir every time, takes 1 to 2 minutes.
just be patient and dont rush it.

You should be able to do it in a microwave without burning it. Set your mike to a lower speed and don't leave it in so long. Check it after only a short time and you should be able to catch it before it burns.

Otherwise a double broiler is the old-timey way of doing it, but they're not so common anymore. You could fill a large pan with water and find another smaller pan that will fit into the other pan without spilling. and heat the water which will in turn heat the chocolate in the smaller pan.

Well if the chocolate in the saucepan was just like that,of course it would burn! Try adding milk was well, because that helps the chocolate not burn and not stick to the saucepan. Also, if you want to make a chocolate sauce, you could try melting any chocolate powder (cocoa powder, milo powder, ect) with some butter and even icing sugar. It's quite yummy.

Put chocolate in a glass bowl and put some butter in it. Use the microwave for about 20 seconds and stir it often. This is how I melt chocolate if it doesn't work then you should ask an adult for help.

double boiler, however, when melting it in the saucepan, the burner must be on low heat & u have to constantly stir it. sames goes in the microwave u have to keep checking on it & stirring it

You can still use saucepan, but in a low heat and constant stirring...shouldn't be any problem after that.

It really is a matter of how high you have the microwave setting. Use 20-25% and monitor carefully.
