Is jam the same as jelly?!

Question:

Is jam the same as jelly?

are they the same thing or are they different.

Answers:
Jam is made from the whole mashed fruit and has bits of fruit and seeds in it as a consequence.

Jelly is made from the juice of mashed fruit and is clear with no fruit bits or seeds.

Jam is easier to make and takes less time, and I prefer it because I like the bits of fruit.

Jam (also known as jelly or preserves) is a type of sweet spread or condiment made with fruits or sometimes vegetables, sugar, and sometimes pectin if the fruit's natural pectin content is insufficient to produce a thick product. Jam and its variations are often spread on bread, and used as a culinary sweetener, for example in yoghurt.

A jelly is a sweet or savoury fruit gel, usually made through the addition of gelatin or pectin to edible liquids.

no

they r the same thing

They're different. Jam is when u can see little bits of fruit in it because it's been cooked but not so much that it completely melts away and gets a bit harder consistency...that's jelly.

no. heres the difference:

if I want to make my own strawberry jam OR jelly, i would first mash up the strawberries. if Im making jam, thats all i need to do before following the rest of the recipe. if Im making jelly, i will need to strain the most or all of the pulp from the mashed strawberries, to extract only the juice.

They are not the same. Jam is opaque and has bits of fruit in it. Jelly is clear and has no bits of fruit in it.
