If u put a yolk into a cake mix will it still be okay?!

Question:

If u put a yolk into a cake mix will it still be okay?

Answers:
Yes, it will be fine. The whites are just to make the cake hold together better, and in some cases, for the people who don't tolerate the yolks well. It just makes the cake moister and more crumbly. If it fell in accidentally, then just use a little care in turning it out because the cake may break. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

The cake will still be okay. If its a sponge or angel cake you shouldn't as the cake won't come out right. You can also use 2 egg yolks to equal any recipe for most cakes and cookies which call for 1 egg. A white cake will just be more yellow with the egg yolk.

It'll still be edible, but you won't get the same results.

Egg yolks are mostly fat and egg whites are protein. Generally, if you're asked to use egg whites, the recipe calls for you to whip them into a protein foam. The yolks would deflate the foam.

If I'm making a chocolate cake from a mix and it asks for egg whites, I throw in the whole egg anyway. Adding fat to a cake makes it wetter and denser.

If you're making something light and airy like an angel food cake, you'll be disappointed in the results if don't use only the whites.

generally it will be fine, a little richer maybe which could change the texture towards a more open crumblier texture.

cooking is fun add an extra one to half a sponge mix and see what hapens with your mix directly
