Can I omit the egg from the hot and sour soup recipe?!

Question:

Can I omit the egg from the hot and sour soup recipe?

It calls for to add a raw egg at the end- isnt this bad for your health? can I omit it? how does it taste w/the egg vs. w/out the egg?

Answers:
The egg is cooked in the hot soup after you add it so it is not harmful. If it is too much for your stomach to handle psyche-wise then just leave it out-it is not an essential ingredient

i have eaten raw egs before......in cookie dough...it is not bad for you, you can omit the egg but it is not that great without it!

The egg cooks instantly in the hot broth, and makes a nice swirly effect visually. I wouldn't leave it out.

Of course you can. The egg is added right before the soup is ready. Beat the egg, take a spoon and drizzle the egg on the top of the soup in circles while still in the pan. The heat of the very hot soup cooks the egg. So you can have the egg and it is healthy. If you don't like egg, just omit it!
