How long do you have to cook pork chops on the grill?!

Question:

How long do you have to cook pork chops on the grill?

This is my first time grilling pork chops on the grill. They came already marinated. I need to know how far from the coals the rack should be and for how long on each side they should be cooked? These are boneless and about half an inch thick.

Answers:
The rack should be 3-4 inches from the coals....and cook for 6 to 7 minutes on the first side. Turn the chops over and continue to cook until they are done, another 6 to 7 minutes. They are done when the inside of them is white just poke them open by useing a knife!

its the inside not the out side that is the important factor, get them away from the grill and try 5 mins for the first side and 2 for the flip side then cut off a corner and have a look at progress, if you avoid putting them all on at the same time you can use what you learn from the first one to inform the time for all the rest, some one is boud to want a well done one! or worst case the first one is yours!

With the steaks 6'' from the coals give them 5 minutes per side. Don't poke or prod them as the will just dry out. Use a pair of food tongs.

i like the idea of trying one by itself, before grilling the whole lot. it will give you an idea of how long to cook them.

pork is a really touchy meat to grill. it overcooks very easily, and dries out. and its pretty dangerous to consume under cooked.

it's hard to undercook 1/2 inch thick chops. Just long enough to get a good sear on both sides - probably 7-8 minutes total - tops. I like my pork with just a blush of pink. This undercooking pork thing is blown way out of proportion - hasn't been a problem in decades. Chicken is far more dangerous undercook than pork these days.
