Help!!!!!! What kind of mixing bowls are good?
Should I invest in the stainless steel or the clear glass mixing bowls?
Answers:
I love my stainless steel mixing bowls. I have glass and ceramic ones as well but the ones I reach for most often are the stainless steel ones. I can use my hand mixer in them and not worry about the sides getting chipped (that happens on the glass and ceramic ones sometimes). It's all about personal preference. I would say to invest in a good set so they will last you a long time.
i would use glass
I have had both glass and stainless steel and actually now mostly use a set of heavy ceramic ones I found lately for just about everything - and they are pretty to serve in. They also keep chilled things cold for a long time. I kept my extra large stainless bowl for mixing large batches of stuff. I gave away my glass ones.
Keeping in mind that you may have to lift them while your hands are wet from preparing food, glass weighs more and is easier to slip out of your hand.
Get bowls that stack inside each other, and if possible with lids, but that shouldn't be a dealbreaker. I prefer a bowl that I can rest on its side a bit to help with stirring and you have a lot to choose from that have a flat corner for that purpose. Mine are white heavy duty plastic, but I also keep a stainless steel set as well. I use both interchangably. Also mine (plastic) have a silicone ring on the bottom to avoid slippage while mixing, and the top rim has an open handle on one side for easy carrying.
go with the glass
kitchenaid mixing bowls are really good ones
You should have both stainless and copper.
There are these great ones at COSTCO. They are a kind of ceramic and have a grip bottom. They are all different colors and sizes. These will be my next purchase for the kitchen.
i like the glass or just pyrex myself
