What a good simple salad dressing that does not use garlic?!

Question:

What a good simple salad dressing that does not use garlic?

love salads but allergic to garlic and fed up with shop bought dressings

Answers:
dont waste money on premade salad dressings with added gums/sugars/flavour enhancers and chemicals you dont want to put in your body.
Purchase great extra virgin olive oil and vinegars and wisk the small amount you need in the salad bowl you plan to serve your salad in.
3 teaspoons of oil and 1 teaspoon of vinegar with 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard, a pinchof sea salt, whisk and leave in the bowl, then add your freshly washed greens to the bowl and toss gently just before serving. no extra bowl to wash up and no waste and pure ingredients.

Lemon juice

I was surprised in Italy when they served me a salad with just regular good quality olive oil and fresh pepper. I like that and some balamic vinegar too, but we also use sala mixed half and half with sour cream. One trick we used to use dieting a few years back was simple. Most diets count dressing as a fat serving, this is made with yougurt so we counted it as a dairy serving for a whole half cup: get a 6 or 8 ounce container of plain yougurt. Add an envelope of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing powder mix. Add one packet of sweet and low. Mix well and go for it! I love it! Happy salads to you! LOVE LORI O^O

Plain balsamic vinegar
Lemon juice and olive oil

My favorite is pepper corn ranch.

Here is a simple but tasty dressing that my mother made when I was a child. Mix ketchup and mayonnaise (these days I use reduced-fat or fat-free) in approximately equal amounts. We call this Russian dressing. If you add pickle relish, it becomes similar to Thousand Island. Check the label to be sure that garlic is not in the ketchup.

Another simple recipe: One tablespoon extra virgin olive oil to two tablespoons of any vinegar. This is a simple vinegarette. Add seasonings, herbs and spices to your taste. My favorites are a touch of tarragon and dill.

Enjoy!

olive oil and vinegar with salt and pepper...just the way nonna made it healthy and delicious esp with romaine =)

Vinegar & Olive Oil and Lemon Juice to taste - a classic

You're as well off, shop bought dressings are full of additives.

Dressings:

Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, white wine vinegar. Just sprinkle the three of these over your salad and toss the whole lot.

You can also try this: get a small jar with a lid, put a spoonful of honey in it, and a spoonful of mustard (I like the coarse mustard myself, but you can always experiment) and enough vinegar (whichever you prefer, but I like cider vinegar with this), put the lid on a shake the whole lot until the honey and mustard are dissolved, then put in your oil and shake again. You can leave putting this on until you're ready to eat your salad, but remember to shake again.

Also try cumin seeds and honey and vinegar.
Or paprika powder.
Or lemon juice (but this doesn't mix too well with paprika powder!)
Or get a cube of feta cheese and a pitted olive, put into the blender with a spoonful of honey and a piece of roast pepper and some vinegar, it's very good.
You could also try mixing a spoonful of the pesto of your choice with oil and vinegar, it's a very handy dressing.

(Those magic wand blenders are very handy for these, just click off the end you use, run it under the tap and it's clean and ready for the next job.)
