I LIKE COOKING SHOWS...who hates gordan Ramseys way of demeaning folk?
If chef Gordan Ramsey wants the very best cuisie for his patrons...and wants a competition to see who is the best....why does he allow pizza delivery folk and churchy chicken fryers to compete...why dont he have Big time chefs competing for his Kitchen from Hades? and why does he have to be so mean?My main question is why he gotta be mean?

I don't much care for him or his tactics, but as anyone who has worked in a high end or high volume restaurant will tell you, his antics are not at all unusual.
My husband is a professional chef and has worked in many kitchen with executive chefs who scream, yell, rant, foam at the mouth, and get nuts.
I think Ramsey is giving the contestants a piece of his own reality.
Studies of chefs show that being a chef is one of the most stressful jobs in the world behind being a doctor or lawyer. Think about it - a chef has the job of providing something you are going to take into your body. Doctors and lawyers are not making something that will nourish your body.
We have worked hard to keep our kitchens as stress free as possible - as respectful of our co-workers as possible. It is really hard sometimes - there have been times that I wanted to throw a screaming mimi fit, but restrained myself because my actions would be harmful.
Bottom line - he needs someone who can stand up under all the pressure and bulls@it the customers, staff, and press will throw at him or her. Literally, if you can't stand the heat, you don't belong in the kitchen.
I like his show on BBC America better. He visits failing restaurants and helps them to become paying propositions. It's wonderful. He's very honest when these owners really need it.
It is a very high stressed job and his name and reputation are on the line, when he talks others have to listen all the top chefs are the same
because he is making a tv programme and thats what people expect of him, the show would not be worth watching if he was Mr nicey nicey
I agree, this guy is a million times worse than Simon Cowell. I guarantee I wouldn't be on that show too long, I don't allow anyone to disrespect me the way he does those people
Oh my gosh, is that show back on? I love it! As for him? He does seem to be pretty harsh. I think he is a Simon (American Idol) of the cooking world. The guy who won the show I watched was fabulous. At the end they gave him the choice of if he wanted to work with Ramsey or open his own restaurant and he chose to work for him. Not sure if he was pressured into it or if he really respected him that much. If not, then they don't mind the pressure too much.
I like cooking shows, too. Are you watching Next Top Chef on the Food Network. I think Ramsey pretends to be a drill Sergeant and he's tearing the contestants down to build them up in his image. I don't know. I like the drama too some extent, but sometimes I have to turn off the TV because it gets to me. I don't hate him, but he sure grates on my nerves. Don't want to break the TV, though!
he's purposely mean because it sells the show. What I want to know is why some of those big guys take his guff, and don't just beat the stuffing out of him.
Uh, who would watch if he acted like Rachel Ray? That level of niceness would not create the conflict that sells shows and entertains.
I was thinking, if Rachel Ray screamed and insulted people like that... They'd have to put her on late night. THAT would be a great show though!!!
