Salsa help?
Hi can you give me a good recipe and directions for not-that-much-spicy salsa?
Answers:
1/2 sweet onion, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
5 slices pickled jalapeno peppers, or to taste
6 fresh tomatoes, quartered
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
1/2 lime, juiced
1/8 teaspoon salt
Place onion, bell pepper, cilantro, and jalapeno peppers into a food processor. Pulse until finely chopped. Add tomatoes, and pulse just a few times until the tomatoes are coarsely chopped. Transfer to a bowl with a tight-fitting lid.
In a separate bowl, whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, lime juice, and salt.
Pour dressing over tomatoes, and stir well. Cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
6 fresh tomatoes, peeled, deseeded and diced, 2 tablespoons shredded fresh corinader(cilantro) 1 lime (zest and juice) 1/4 teaspoon dried chilli powder, 1 sliced green onion and 1/2 bell pepper finely diced. season and add 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil. mix well, let sit for 1 hour, ready to go at room temperature.
mmm a creamy sweet salsa with cherry tomatoes, plum tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, celery, cilantro, garlic, a little bit of jalapeno, onions, chiles, red and green bell peppers and fresh lime juice... or perhaps some shredded carrots
you can add nacho cheese or avocados to that
yum
No I can't give you an accurate recipe I don't use them.
Salsa is tomatoes, onions, maybe celery, maybe corn, and then some type of peppers. one, use roasted peppers or green chile's, remove the seeds and the veins, and it wont be too spicy hot if you don't put too many in. Watch your onions, they can bet hot all on their own. You may also add chili powder, fresh garlic or garlic powder (careful here the fine the chop or grind on the garlic the hotter it gets.)
Make small batches until you find one you like. Salsa is kind of like chili and barbecue sauce, everyone has a favorite way of making it, and no two are exactly alike.
chop up tomatoes, cilantro, onion, mild peppers, and a squeeze of lime juice until you have enough salsa
You can make several types of salsa. Start with tomatoes, cilantro, onions, lime juice, and chiles like serranos (to taste), salt, pepper and don't forget the cumin! That's what gives salsa it's authentic mexican taste. You can use this as a base to make black bean salsa (add a can of drained black beans), mango salsa, pineapple salsa, guacamole, or just eat it by itself. You're going to have to go by taste because sometimes chiles are hotter than others.
