Why is "Rice A Roni" the San Francisco treat?!

Question:

Why is "Rice A Roni" the San Francisco treat?

Answers:
Because some ad agency guy sold the idea to the company which was originally based near San Francisco. The Quaker Company bought it in 1986. It's a very mediocre blend of a dry chicken soup mix, made at the factory with rice and vermicelli. You can do much much better yourself!
