Steak. Which one should I buy?!
Steak. Which one should I buy?
I want to cook a great steak for my Husband. Keeping it simple, just steak and salad. However, this means that the steak has to be GOOD. He likes it medium rare, pinky in the middle. But what should I look out for in the supermarket?
Answers:
Fillet Steak, is by far the most superior cut.
If you can get a good piece of scottish or brazillian beef you'll tast the difference.!
Place them in a hot pan, and only turn once for best results!!

For a start go to a butcher and not a supermarket.
Fillet is the best cut.
steak salad
Fillet, expensive, but the best
Rump. A good mix of texture and flavour. I find fillet a bit soft.
nice piece of RUMP, loads of flavour, thick nice cut ( rare is even better ) glass of red ... but don't forget the chips ( oven cooked )
Hope it all goes well.
Fillet is the best cut, but you can't beat rump for flavour. But, DON'T buy steak in the supermarket, the quality and flavour will be poor quality. Get to a local butcher, and though you'll pay a little more the quality will be worth it.
I prefer rib eye steaks. But fillet steaks are the king of the steaks.
Fillet is the best but expensive - Rump is also very good but a lot cheaper so it depends how much you want to spend on him! Does he really deserve it?!?
sirloin if you are frying it - try to get the 21 day old - its much
more tender
remember to oil and season the steak before putting it into
the pan
eye fillet
scotch fillet
sirloin/porterhouse
rump steak
Rib eye or fillets. Definitely try to get your steaks from a butcher though!
If you have to buy from the supermarket, then go for the rib eye. I wouldn't spend the money on fillets from a grocery store!!
Buy a good ribeye cut! It's juicy and tender, the only kind of steak I will eat.
In my house a really good T-Bone steak is always a hit. You should look for the cut to be prime or even better is is Angus beef. Angus is more expensive but for special occasions it's the best. Onther cut to look for is NY strip steak. Also very good. dont get a thin steak if your hubby like it rare to med rare. If you don't see what your looking for in the case get the butcher at your local market to cut them specially for you. I've always found them to be very good at doing this for me.
Ribeye is the new fillet, it is more flavoursome then fillet. Go to a butcher if you can rather than buying prepacked. If you go to supermarket buy organic and aim for 21day hung beef
I'd get fillet, but make sure I season it quite well as it lacks the flavour of rump, but is reliably more tender, especially when served a bit rare. go to the butcher and make sure he cuts it to the right thickness.
People tend to think that fillets are the best. I find they don't have a lot of flavor. That's why you see them so often au poive. I prefer a rib eye. It flavorful and easy to cook. Just a little salt and pepper and tossed on the grill or under the broiler for about 4 minutes per side will give you a delicious, flavorful steak. Especially if your husband likes steak.
If you really want to please your husband, then the best steak you can buy is Fillet steak!! It is really expensive, but that goes to show it is the best.Plus it only takes seconds to cook how he likes it, and always remember to rest it a few mins before serving! Enjoy!
I agree with Rib eye
full of taste and great texture
i had a 14oz rib eye steak on sat and it was gooooood dont cook it too long otherwise it will taste like rubber
Sirloin is surely the cut of choice. Argentina is also the country of choice. There you have it!
First of all, buy a grass fed, open range, organic beef steak.
This meat DOES NOT have growth hormones, antibiotics,
feed of questionable origin, in the beef. Buying from the
grower is best. My favorite is a good Porter House steak.
Rib eye is definately the best cut of steak. it has more flavour and I have never yet had a tough one. Some friends who visited the other night said it was the best steak they had ever had. Dont overcook it though.
The three types of steak I enjoy are rib-eye, t-bone and porterhouse. Ribeyes can be a bit fatty but have a great flavor. T-bones and porterhouses tend to be thicker and give you a good chance to keep it pink in the center. Always look for the steak with whiter fat, that is to say, the brighter fat. That means it probably came from a younger cow and should be more tender. Good luck.
Fillet steaks are what me and my partner always buy. They are the best although expensive! Enjoy...
