Answers:
Love that trout. 1. Spread him open and flour your fish ; 2. In separate bowl beat up one egg, mix in 1/4 cup milk add some more flour a couple of tbsp of lemon juice and a pinch or two of salt, 3. coat your fish in the mix , 4. heat about 1/4th cup cooking oil in your skillet 5. fry him for 3 or 4 minutes skin side up and when he starts to brown flip him and do on the other side and cook for about the same length of time on the other side. When he flakes he's ready. I should have told you that you will also have to have a big stick handy when you cook him. You will need it to beat people off when they try to steal your fish. or you can just batter him up and pan fry him in some lemon juice and butter or margarine or cooking oil. Now if you ever need a recipe for possum...

marinade with lemon juice, ginger paste, salt and soy sauce. Fry in olive oil.

Coat the fish first with plain flour and then with bread crumbs and shallow fry in veg/ Olive oil.

The southern way to do it would be to coat the fish in an egg wash, then batter it with a mixture of half all purpose flour and corn meal. Don't forget to salt and pepper your flour mixture. It is easier to do than then try to get it right after.

1. you can egg dip then dip in flour, then do it one more time to get a better coat

2. you can egg dip and dip in a flour/cornmeal mix (my favorite)

3. if you don't have bread crumbs or cornmeal you can crush up saltine crackers really fine

4. if you don't have crackers you can crush up a variety of unsweetened cereals (I once made fried chicken with cornflakes and it was great!)

Since you obviously don't want to go shopping- you need to find a substitute you do have if you want fried type fish... any of the below will do - depending on what you have on hand and what you are serving it with, you just need to put the coating ingredients in a zip lock and crush together until powdery

1 cup peanuts mixed with 1/2 cup flour, cajun seasoning or season salt ( serve with a rice dish, if you have canned diced tomatoes, cook the rice with the tomatoes, add cajun seasonings)

1 cup tortilla chips mixed with 1/2 cup flour and some southwestern or mexican seasoning- taco mix or fajita seasoning would work -serve with the same type of rice dish, only southwestern- you could top the rice with cheddar cheese and a dollop of sour cream

1 cup cracker crumbs and 1/2 cup flour- serve with cole slaw and lemon slices

the possibilities are endless. Use what you have on hand, you are sure to find something!
