Picnic recipes?!

Question:

Picnic recipes?

Okay, so it's my boyfriend's 16th birthday next week. I thought that for his birthday, I should plan a surprise picnic for him in the park. The question is that I don't know what are good foods to make for a picnic! I don't want to just make sandwiches and stuff like that. I want it to be special especially since it's also our 6th month anniversary. Any good ideas on nice picnic foods?

chips sandwich fruit

That's really sweet of you!
You could pack a basket with crusty French bread, cheese cubes, grapes (feed them to each other), and some other easy to eat fruits. Dessert could be home made cupcakes or cookies. For drinks, how about sparkling grape juice, or if that is too cheesy, how about sparkling water, like Perrier.
Enjoy yourselves! Sounds like fun :-)

Sandwiches are such n easy way to pack a picnic.. Think about some exotci sandwiches, not just a ham and cheese. You could do chicken with avacado on a roll of some sort, make a big sub sandwich.
Fried Chicken is always a hit for a picnic.. fry up some drum sticks and serve with a pasta salad or potato salad.
You could do little finger foods, shrimp cocktails, mini pig in the blankets.
Crab and shrimp salad,
have some fresh fruit,
for drinks make some sweet lime tea or a carbonated juice of some sort,
Here's to a Sunny Day.

Here's a link to Food Network's Picnic site. They include recipes, what to pack, unique ideas, etc. I think that it's so sweet that you are planning a picnic for him. In addition to whatever food you decide on, I would buy a nice bottle of sparkling cider or pink lemonade. I think that fruit is always good for a summer picnic... whatever you do, just don't make anything with mayo in it or you both could wind up having food poisoning. Good luck and I'm sure it will come out wonderfully.

I don't know what kind of a cook you are, I can suggest in a container type sandwiches...like pulled BBQ pork or chicken. Also there is a great KRAFT pasta salad...it's like $2.50 a box and it is delish! You must keep it cold though, because there is mayo in the receipe. We always eat BBQ baked beans(not so romantic for an anniversary though *wink*). Hum, watermelons...NO! Strawberry's-,maybe you can get choc. covered ones from the market! YUM! Not sure if I helped, but Have a great time!

Whenever my fiance and I go on picnics we have the classic wine, fruit and cheese. You could still do a take on this with non-alchoholic sparkling cider (since you are only 16 :) )and bring plastic wine glasses. I get a lot of my recipes on www.allrecipes.com. If I were you I would find a good pasta salad recipe on there, and take some fruit/cheese (brie and raspberries with crackers is to die for also havarti and grapes are good together as well) and the sparkling cider and you are set for a romantic picnic for two. Don't forget a blanket!
