Chocolate Chip Cookies
2/3 cup butter flavored shortening
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 Tbs vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2 In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture. Stir in the pecans and chocolate chips. Use a measuring tablespoon to round dough into balls. Don't roll the balls, just make them rounded. Place onto ungreased baking sheets.
3 Bake 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until centers are set and very lightly browned. Don't overbake. Cool 2 to 3 minutes before removing from baking sheets. Make sure you have lots of ice cold milk!!!
Yield: 5 -6 dozen.

Here is a great summer twist:
Substitute white chocolate chips for the choco chips and add:
3 tsp grated key lime zest
2 tsp fresh key lime juice
3/4 c chopped macadamia nuts

Chocolate Chip Cookies are pretty simple to make and they are so yummy.

The recipie on the back of the Toll House chocolate chip bags is tasty.

The recipe that blows my husband's socks off is the one on the back of the Chipits Milk Chocolate chocolate chips bag. It goes like this:

1. Beat 2/3 cup (150 mL) melted butter, 2 cups (500 mL) lightly packed brown sugar, 2 eggs, 2 tbsp (30 mL) hot water; mix well.
2. Stir in 2 2/3 cups (650 mL) all-purpose flour, 1 tsp (5 mL) baking powder, 1 tsp (5 mL) baking soda, and 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt.
3. Stir in 1 small pkg. (270 g) of Hershey Chipits Milk Chocolate Chips (or any other milk chocolate chips should do).
4. Drop from small spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 8 to 10 minutes.

This makes about 5 dozen cookies. You cannot go wrong with this recipe, although I often like to add around 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 1/2 cup of coconut as well.

Mmm......i want somem yummy warm crispy around the edges Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!
