Question:

When you make play dough, do you make it over the stove?

Answers:
Yes, i do to cook out the flour, or if you dont, you just end up with clag

Yes.

The following is an excellent recipe for homemade PlayDough. You can substitute regular table salt for popcorn salt, but popcorn salt is finer grained and incorporates thoroughly. The drink mix performs two functions: colors the mixture, and gives a nice smell.

PlayDough Recipe

Ingredients:
4 cups sifted flour
1 cup popcorn salt
4 cups water
4 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup cream of tartar
Food color or 1 package unsweetened powdered Kool-Aid (optional)

Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a saucepot.
Cook and stir over low heat until dough longer sticky.
Allow to cool.
Store in an airtight container.

No, don't cook it.

No, paper mache an play dough uses flour warm water an pieces of news paper

Yes - do it in a pan that you dont mind ruining though - that stuff can stain when you put in the food colouring - make sure you use Cream of Tartar, most packs have a recipe on the back but here is my one:

Ingredients
1 cup of plain flour
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon cooking oil
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
half a cup of salt
food colouring (colour is optional)

Place all the ingredients in a saucepan at a low heat. Stir continously until the mixture thickens to a firm dough texture.

Wait until it is cool and then wrap it in cling film to keep moist - dont wrap it warm or it will go very very sticky when you unwrap it - I had an incident when I did that and the kids ruined the tables at playgroup!!

Good Luck!!

AROMA DOUGH
Mix together:
one cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
-----
Bring one cup water to boil and add:
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
6 drops food coloring
2/3 drops aromatic oil (if desired)
---
Stir boiling water into dry ingredients STIRRING CONSTANTLY. Mix until well blended. It is best to pour the water into the flour mixture DIRECTLY FROM THE HEAT This dough can be molded and shaped and reused (store in airtight containers) or it can be baked in the microwave for two minutes.
