I've used nonfat plain yoghurt in that kind of recipe. Use about half again as much yoghurt as it calls for oil. You may need to add a little extra liquid. Check the batter and see if it looks a little too thick; if so, add a little water.
i think you can use shortening. lard or margarine.
You you have any oil such as olive -thatwoud work
You can melt solid sortening such as margarine.
then use watever oil u have (except olive oil).....like corn,canola,ect...or if u have no oil at all use butter(soften it ) or shortening
Melt some lard or butter/margarine and use that or use olive oil or corn oil if you have that. Any fat/oil will do, just remember whatever flavor the fat carries the cake will get so bacon fat might not be a good idea. The fat is in the recipe to allow the gluten protiens in the flour to be more elastic and therefore allow the cake to rise higher while baking without falling.
DO NOT USE OLIVE OIL! It will make your cake taste funny! Trust me, I made that mistake once. If you have another kind of oil, like canola or sunflower, that will work. Use butter or margarine as a last resort. Don't try lard as it won't melt down and mix as nicely as the others. Good luck!
apple sauce is a low fat alternative. Melted butter. Pudding you can use also. I have used all as substitutes and the cake is still delicious, I gaurantee it...
Mayonnaise.
Sounds strange but makes the cake moist and yummy.
