Simple home made low cost desert for 150 people?!

Question:

Simple home made low cost desert for 150 people?

I have been asked to provide the desert course for a large meeting, there will be 150 portions needed and they will have to be ready on site with no kitchen facilities there. the budget is low $1 or 50p per portion, I have some ideas - lets have yours please! the even is in Oct in UK so I don't expect it to be a temperature storage issue.

Answers:
double dipped strawberries- you dip them (don't cover it completely, about 3/4 way up) in dark melted chocolate, put in the fridge or just leave them to harden. once the chocolate is hard, dip it in melted white choc. (dip half of the dark choc. covered part).
it's very formal, impressive and easy to prepare, and i don't think it's that expensive.

Trifle

fruit cocktail and cream

tirimisu (this is th easiest,,,the tasteist and the best to make ****)

cheesecake....

cupcakes
brownies

Jam Tarts

Plain spongecake with the option of stewed apples or jam compote.

Apple pie or apple crumble, simple and everybody loves it =] x

Cookies would probably be your best bet. But, if you're looking to be a bit more personal, then go with cupcakes.

Cake might be your best bet - the ingrediants are cheap, you can get several portions out of each cake, and it's easily transportable. How about chocoate gateaux or chocolate fudge cake served with cream.

bananna pudding is always good and cheap and then there is Mud Pie which includes

chocolate pudding-- as many packs as necessary
whipped cream-- frozen not canned
oreos-- i prefer the chocolate-chocolate kind

make the pudding add a layer to the bottom of the pan- let whipped cream melt slightly so you can spread it and crush up oreos keep layering as many times as you want-- it tastes REALLY good and its really simple-- depending on the occasion (little kids birthday) i like to add gummy worms on top so it really does look like dirt-- maybe not so appropriate for a wedding or something like that however. Good LUCK!

Gulab jamuns from Indian sweet shops.
serve them with ice cream

At my daughters wedding the 'dessert' was fantastic but simple and easy to prepare !!! She had a pre-prepared "mud-chocolate-cake' then had a huge bowl of fresh fruit salad and fresh cream on the side for everyone to dish up as they wished to go with the 'cake'........it was a great hit !!!!

A large vanilla cake with butter cream frosting should do it... or a few of them.

Both can be made quickly and cheaply in advance, taste great, and look really nice with a simple fruit garnish.

Rice Pudding. Can be served hot or cold, can be made in large trays, and is just milk eggs and rice.

Desert? Gobi is good, but Sahara is larger.
For dessert, try rice crispy squares. You can cut them as small as you like and at 50 cents a bit, you'll make a killing.
