How do you make home made fries?!

Question:

How do you make home made fries?

I want to make home made french fries, really crispy with lots of flavor, any ideas?

Answers:
Once you have peeled and sliced your taters in french fry shape, dry each one individually with a paper towel. Dry makes crisp. Make sure your oil is hot. You can use a little or a lot. It is up to you. If you fry in a skillet then you don't need much. You want your oil to be medium hot. Place fries single layer in pan and fry till golden on all sides. You can sample one when you think they are done. If they need more time, turn the heat down and cook a little longer. When the fires ARE done, drain them to get rid of extra oil. Turn them frequently once done sprinkle with either popcorn salt or Lawrey seasoning salt. Make a nice dipping sauce for them by mixing cream cheese, mayonaise and garlic together.

I was always taught to cut the potatoes, skins still on and put them in salt water and let them soak for about an hour or more. The thinner you cut them the crispier they will be. Then stick them in the fry daddy. I sprinkle them with a little seasoning salt and parmesan cheese.

yea slice a few potato's drop in hot oil. now you have made french fries.

get some russet potatoes, peel them, soak them in cold water for a day, slice them, blanch them in peanut oil, you just want them slightly cooked. spread them on a cookie sheet, and put them back in the fridge to cool. once cool, finish cooking them all the way through. toss with some chervil, thyme, tarragon, parsley, parmesan cheese, and a little crushed red pepper.

Peel and cut potatoes into sticks (or rounds if that's easier for you). You can also keep the skin on.

Heat some vegetable oil. I tend to use a deep pot, which reduces the chance of oil splashing over the side.

If you like a hint of sweet, add a teaspoon of honey to the oil. Once the oil is hot enough (test by tossing a small piece of potato in the oil. If it sizzles *right away* it's hot enough). Put the potatoes in the hot oil. Cooking time depends on the size of your potato pieces and oil temperature. Once they're a nice golden brown, take them out of the oil with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels.

use season salt and garlic--bread em like fried chx if you want!!

Here is a Recipe for Oven Fries:

Oven Fries:

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
2. Fill a bowl with cold water. Make sure the bowl is large enough to hold all your potatoes. Place the potatoes in the water as you peel them to keep them from turning dark.
3. Cut the potatoes in half, lengthwise. Place each half flat-side down and slice into 1/2-inch thick slices. Stack these slices, one on top of the other, and cut the potatoes again lengthwise into 1/2-inch pieces. You should now have long, rectangular fries that are 1/2 inch on each side and as long as the potato.
4. Arrange potatoes on a baking sheet, in a single layer. Pour 1/2 cup of olive oil over them. Season with a pinch of salt. Mix to ensure each piece is coated.
5. Cook the potatoes for 30 minutes at 325 degrees. Increase the oven temperature to 400 and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Periodically stir the fries while they are cooking to make sure they brown evenly. Serve and enjoy.
