Cooking Salmon...?
Whenever I bake, broil or brown Salmon steaks or fillets, this slimy white stuff always seems to come from within? What is it, is it edible, and is it possible to get rid of it?

Have no fear, it's not just Salmon but meat and all other fish do the same thing. It's the combination of natural salts, blood and connective tissues that break down when heat is applied and rise to the surface away from the heat or heated surface, much like bubbles in boiling water so to speak. It actually adds flavor by the evaporation of moisture.
I think I know what you are describing and it is fine to eat it. I am not sure, but I think it is just some of the fish juice that is cooked.
take it easy!
get some cling film
place you salmon fillet in the middle
top it with:
basil
salt and pepper
drizzle of olive oil
wrap it up
cook in boiling water for about 15 mins
enjoy
