Long John Silvers Batter Dipped Chicken-Fish Recipe?!

Question:

Long John Silvers Batter Dipped Chicken-Fish Recipe?

I'm dieing to find the real copycat recipe for the batter used at Long John Silvers Restaurants. I wonder if any employee or friends of such can give me a copycat recipe. I found many PHONEY recipes on the web, using bisquick, dried mustard, club soda, pancake batter, etc...and they are all horrible and nothing like LJS batter.

Can someone finally come to the rescue?

LJS batter is not tempura batter. I cook Japanese, and tempura batter is not even close. Golden Dipt is also not even close.

PLEASE....don't take this as being ungrateful....but PLEASE DON'T POST A RECIPE IF YOU'VE NEVER EATEN AT LONG JOHN SILVER'S.

I've been searching for this recipe for years...and it's very tireing getting the same old phoney internet recipes that keep getting passed around by people who never actually tested these recipes....or even know what LJS batter tastes like.

Still....I appreciate your answers.

I'm sorry, I can't vote any of these recipes the best answer. It's apparant that the posters either never have eaten at LJS, and/or they've never tried the recipes they've posted.

All the internet recipes are phoney, and yet some of you still continue to post them. I'm sorry we couldn't find the real recipe.

This is an official LJS copycat batter used for chicken or fish. Enjoy!

3/4 cup flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup water

Sift dry ingredients.
Add water and mix well.
Use to coat fish or chicken filets.
Cover the fish completely.
Deep fry until a nice golden brown.

an added note. You may need to play with the salt amount a bit. Some people find this recipe not salty enough, while others think it's fine. And make sure your fish or chicken is patted dry or the batter may not stick as well.

All your looking for is tempura batter. Just go to the market and they have them all done for you. It is probably on the same aisle as the shake and bake. Good luck and happy cooking.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I don't know the official clone recipe for it, but I can tell you that the one the person has posted on here is not it. I've used this recipe before, it is good, but it is not the real thing.
