I dont know how you would cook parsnips in a microwave and them turn out ok really. The will go soft, you wont be able to 'roast' them, unless its a combi microwave. Maybe cook them until they are cooked and soft, then mash them with some potato?

If you do them in the microwave chances are they'll end up like baked potatoes.

Just peel, chop and put in a liitle water. Cover and they will steam nicely. Depending on your wattage the time could be anything from a couple of minutes so you will need to check regularly.

I'm guessing you don't have a fryer but you could have bunged them in there to crisp up after.

Just in case you are stuck again. Waffles are easy to cook in the toaster and some veg can be boiled in the kettle!

If your cooker is broken you are not going to be able to roast them to get that tasty caramelising that makes them so delicious.
Cut them into chunks, add a little water and cook for about 10 mins until done, in the microwave. If you have a ring that is working on top of the oven, you could finish them off in butter and and honey so they go brown and gooey. Yum Yum.
I sometimes boil them with carrots, when done add plenty of butter, black pepper and puree them. A very good way of using up the woody ones. Again they taste very good. Dare I say it?, even the kids have been known to eat them like this!.

I would wait until after you get the oven this weekend. The only veg I cook in the microwave would be frozen vegetables. There is nothing like an oven roasted parsnip, Yum! If you have to have the parsnip now, steaming in a small amount of water until they are tender, then drain off excess water. Add a little pat of butter and salt and pepper and do an additional 30 seconds to a minute.
