I have heard about rice going bad quickly as well, that is why I am so nervous about storing it.
Freezing it that sounds interesting.

your not supposed to re-heat rice. why not just make some more in a few days it doesnt take long!

in a fridge below 4'c for no longer than two days

in the fridge!!!!

It'll be OK for 2-3 days. Just make sure it's in a sealed tupperware container. I wouldn't go past 3 days.

rice is a high protien food so it will go bad quick, best to freeze it, if you have to put it in the fridge then a day maybe 2 at a push.

I think your should store it in a container with a lid or a ziploc sack because I have noticed it tends to dry out when not covered.

Cook it,run it under cold water and leave in fridge..Use what you want tonight and freeze the rest.....

I can tell you that rice is subject to the salmonella bacteria and should not be kept too long in any conditions. I was quite surprised to learn this from a TV programme about restaurants.

Freeze it dont leave it in the fridge.Rice is one of the worst foods to go off with bacteria

Freeze it. No problem. When you need it, put a knob of butter on it and pop it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, fluff it up with a fork.

This depends on the rice. If you use one of the quick cook rices, like Minute Rice, you'll find it turns waxy when stored in the icebox. Better to cook a good quality long grain white or brown rice. These will keep well up to a week or so if simply covered (air tight if possible) and kept in the refridgerator. Once the rice begins to get too dry to eat the way it is, you can still stir fry it with a touch of soy sauce, fried onions, garlic and some egg that is scrambled and fried in a thin sheet, then sliced into strips. If you stir fry the rice the first day after you originally cooked it, you can then freeze it and it will keep up to several months. I like to freeze foods in single and double portions, so I only have to defrost what I'm about to eat.

Rice cooker, you have no problem. You can keep cooked rice for almost as long as you want. After your first meal tonight, cover the rice (not air tight) in a dish/bowl till tomorrow morning. Heat it up in the morning, take your second meal and allow to cool very well. When cooled, you can then store in the refrigerator (meals compartment) till you are ready for each dish. Don't forget to heat what you dish out to eat very well. This way, you can have your rice for many days till it gets out.

It really depends on how many days you consider a few. It keeps o.k. for 2 or 3 days. Freezing I have never found successful. Cooked rice is moist and after freezing becomes soggy. Better really to cook more.

Rice is fine for 2-3 days in the fridge, i would suggest that any excess rice you have once cooked is run under cold water and cooled right away before draining and storing. Then when re-heating.... ensure it is piping hot through out, otherwise a nasty food poisoning called Bacillus cerious (sorry about the spelling) can thrive. It is safe to keep rice for 2-3 days and re-heat, i have done this many a time.
