I have left over flour tortilla strips. Can i make sopapilla strips with these?!

Question:

I have left over flour tortilla strips. Can i make sopapilla strips with these?

I usually cut my tortillas to fit in a square pan when i make a "Mexican Lasagna" dish...and I hate throwing the scraps away. I love sopapillas, but i wasn't sure if these would be suitable to fry for that. If they are, any recipes would be appreciated! (I don't know the amount of sugar to cinnimon on the top)

Answers:
Yes actually you can, they likely won't inflate the way sopapilla dough would when deep fried, they will end up a bit crispy but the end result can still be yummy. Sugar and cinnimon to preference, I prefer a liberal dusting of it. You can also try these things with the tortilla strips:

Mixed in with scrambled eggs and chilis/chorizo (or other).

Made with a tomato sauce the way you would make sopitas.

make chilakines

I make the same meal. It's yummy. How about putting the strips on a baking sheet, spray, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar? :) Bake until crisp, maybe 10-15 at 375?
