Where can I get Scotch Bonnet peppers?!
Where can I get Scotch Bonnet peppers?
I need some peppers for jerk chicken. In the milwaukee area? If not, Chicago/northern illinois area? Not looking for habaneros. Got the pimento sticks, wood chips, leaves and berries-going for authenticity. Not in sauce or dried form-need the actual peppers. Anywhere to get them online?

No, scotch bonnets and habaneros are NOT the same. Like I said, going for authenticity. Not just looking for spice out of the peppers, looking for the added flavor they bring as well.

Quite right Scotch Bonnets are not the same as habaneros.
See if either of these businesses can get Scotch Bonnets in for you.

Scotch Bonnet peppers ARE habaneros. Same pepper-different name. So if you can find habaneros, you're in luck.
I'm farther south, but good grocery stores around here carry habaneros.
OK-I edited this. This came from www.gardenguide.com
"Scotch Bonnet is a type of Habanero, considered the hottest pepper in the world. Words such as blistering and incendiary are used to describe the heat. The red Scotch Bonnet is sweeter and a little less hot than other Habaneros, but still extremely hot. "
So I guess Habaneros is a family of peppers, and Scotch Bonnet is a member of that family.
Most Korean or Caribbean Fruit Market would have them
I'm sure big, broad-serving supermarkets like Dominick's would have them, as would any market serving Guyanian, Trinadadian, Jamaican, Indian, Pakistani, Bengali or Barbadian neighborhoods.
