What is the difference between oven-baked and oven-roasted??!

Question:

What is the difference between oven-baked and oven-roasted??

poultry?

Answers:
I think roasting is at a higher temp.like 450 and baking is 350.Roasting something will caramelize it,while baking will cook it more evenly.

Meats are roasted. Pastry is baked, in spite of baked ham which is really roasted.

When you roast you tend to use a higher temp 450
When you bake you usually bake at about 350

As an adjunct to the generally correct answers from mom21191... and bbmk333, concerning poultry if it is being oven cooked, at any temperature under broil the word "baked" is more likely to be used, especially if it is smothered in a sauce.

its just semantics, would you roast a cake? no you would bake a cake, would you bake a beef roast, no you would roast it.
