Is meat reealy that good for you?
is meats i like to eat like the ones listed below that healthy?
balonie, salami, lamb, steak, chicken, pork, and beef.
Answers:
Lean cuts of meat, like pork and chicken are primary sources of protein, Vitamin B and iron and have very little fat and cholesterol.
Bologna, salami are processed and filled with salt and nitrates (preservative and color)...not good.
Lamb and beef are very fatty, but provide the same nutrients as above.
processed meats aren't good for you. they are full of salt and preservatives.
meats/poultry are good for you if they are lean cuts of meats and are skinless.
Yes it's protein a basic building block of life if you don't enjoy meat don't eat it instead eat your neighbor grass
since you're only 9yrs old, have your mother or father go out & rent the movie The Corporation for you & find out how healthy meat really is for you.
It's very informative. you should see this movie, i don't know if it's an R movie, whatever, watch it with your parents, they should see it too. Especially if you're inquiring about Bologna.... sounds like "ba-lone-ee". not spelled balonie
Not really. Bologna and salami and all other processed (pre-made sandwich-type meats) are especially bad because of the high fat and sodium content and the nitrates and preservatives. Other meats aren't quite as bad, but I still don't consider them healthy.
Meat consumption is one reason for high cholesterol. Only animals have cholesterol--eat them and you put it in your own body. (Given, family history and other factors also affect one's cholesterol level.)
Excluding organically raised animals, they are injected with all sorts of antibiotics and hormones that simply can't be good to eat. This is purely my opinion: But could it be that our obesity epidemic has something to do with people consuming *growth* hormones in the meat they eat?! At the same time, though, it is worth mentioning that fruits, vegetables, and grains also have their problems: pesticides, herbicides, and genetic modification (organic also excluded).
People do not need to eat animals to get protein for their own bodies. It's a popular falsifaction. Any other animals' protien is not chemically identical to human protein. The body must break it down into individual amino acids and make human protein out of them. Plant forms of protein and amino acids are actually more easily broken down and made into protein.
I don't mean to make it sound like all meat is deadly. I eat meat--even the unhealthy stuff. But I do know that it is not good for the above reasons. The healthiest meat would be lean and organically raised. Probably not pork or beef. Turkey and fish are pretty good. Chicken's not too bad. And like they say, "All things in moderation."
