Foooooooood ! help for the family?!
Foooooooood ! help for the family?
I need to make some meals that are money saving and healthy for three kids.. Something that could work it self into other meals perhaps? I'm a really bad cook.. so i don't want to be slaving over the stove either.... can someone help??
Answers:
Go to Food Network online they have wonderful, easy recipes. Try to stay away from all the crap food like boxed mac n cheese and hot dogs and hamburger helper. It may seem cheaper and easier but you're setting your family up for a lifetime of unhealthy eating. When you choose recipes that you like make a double batch and freeze one for a later time. You are already in the kitchen so make two meals at one time. Stuffed shells, lasagna and ziti are very easy meals that freeze well. Cooking doesn't have to be hard work or a chore. Good luck!
easy mac,T.V. dinners!
Try making a baked ziti..You can't really screw it up. The cooking is the same as making spaghetti, but you add you meats and cheeses and anything else you like. Just bake and go. (You can even hide veggies for the kids who don't like them.)
like breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
breakfast, cereal. :]
lunch, mac & cheese, and maybe a hotdog?
dinner, hamburger helper.
trust me, easiest stuff in the book - and requires no cooking ability at all.
There are many ways to use left-over Turkey, from roll-ups, salads, sandwiches, soup, etc. etc.
Roasted Turkey
Ingredients:
One 16-pound turkey, legs tied and giblets reserved
1 celery rib, thinly sliced
1 carrot, thinly sliced
1 onion, thinly sliced
6 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
8 thyme sprigs
2 rosemary sprigs
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
4 cups water
4 1/2 cups Chicken stock or broth
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Prep:
Preheat the oven to 350°. Set the turkey on a rack in a large roasting pan and scatter the turkey heart, gizzard and neck, the sliced celery, carrot, onion and garlic and the herb sprigs all around. Season the turkey with salt and pepper. Add 2 cups of the water to the pan and roast the turkey for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Add the remaining 2 cups of water to the roasting pan. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for about 1 hour and 15 minutes longer, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the inner thigh registers 170°.
Transfer the turkey to a cutting board and let rest for 30 minutes. Strain the pan juices into a large heatproof measuring cup, pressing on the solids. Skim the fat.
Pour the pan juices into a medium saucepan. Add 4 cups of the Stock and boil until reduced to 5 cups, about 5 minutes. In a bowl, whisk the flour with the remaining 1/2 cup of stock, then whisk the mixture into the stock. Boil, whisking, until the gravy is thickened. Carve the turkey and serve with the gravy.
When my kids were little I used to make a box of mac & cheese and then mix some fried hamburger or corned beef with it. They loved it. You could also get a large can of beef stem and place can bisquits on top and bake it. Or make pigs in a blanket...hotdogs wrapped with a rolled out bisquit. Get a box of Bisquit on the back and side are some of the easiest and best receipes you can find. I cook those all the time.
well i say if you can cook...You can always order out. Even though you wanna save money, it ain't going to cut if you don't know how to cook....or you know what try eggs
