Gerber's (the corporation still exists) was founded by Dorothy & David Gerber in 1927/8 when Mrs Gerber became exasperated by having to purée food for their baby, day in, day out, and so they devised a way to mechanise the process and can the product, which meant the beginning of processed baby food as we know it today.(1)
The milk you mention is the one product I can't find a description of, in the company history, though I found a toddler's milk mug for sale bearing the "Gerber Baby" logo (2), illustrating the currency of the milk product.
You don't mention anything about the recipe, so without that context it's impossible to judge what might have been the qualities of Gerber's Milk, above and beyond those of plain whole milk. If you've got more detail, please post it?
