Cinnamon Basil recipes and ideas?!

Question:

Cinnamon Basil recipes and ideas?

Anyone have any recipes or snazzy ideas how to use cinnamon basil. I planted some and it is rocking out, but I've never heard of it before. It smelled sooo good.

Answers:
Cinnamon basil is great to use with stewed tomatoes...it helps tame the acidic taste a bit and changes the dynamic in the tomatoes making for an interesting soup, stew or sauce.

Cinnamon basil is also quite yummy as a salad! Try using the larger leaves as you would baby greens and put them together with other lettuces - you'll find that a very simple vinegar and oil dressing is all that is needed as the cinnamon basil leaves make the salad taste interesting all on its own.

I have never heard of it either but I did a search and

It is a wonderful spice. Use it just like regular basil. It gives a slightly different taste. The tast difference is so small many people never know the difference.

One thing I did that worked really well was to mix up scrambled eggs prior to going to bed, but leaving the eggs uncooked and covered in the fridge. I did the same with some very finely minced cinnamon basil I had. The next morning, I immediately went to the kitchen.

I cooked the bacon as usual and removed same, then added the basil to the grease, and immediately added asparagus spears, which were cooked until just tender. Then I threw in the egg mixture. To quote Rachel Ray, "Yummo!"

If you have fresh herbs, then you should experiment with them. You have so many options available it is a waste not to use them.
