There are many ways to make a stroganoff sauce- it depends on your preference....Sometimes I create my own by using...

-cream of mushroom soup, sour cream & beef broth or bouillon- voila! It is easy and really good with either sirloin, hamburger or meatball stroganoff versions!

Do you have the hamburger helper box or do you want the "scratch" recipe?

Scratch recipe as follows:
INGREDIENTS:
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 teaspoons butter
1 large onion, chopped
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
1 pound lean ground beef
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/3 cup liquid (beef broth, water, etc.)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
PREPARATION:
Saute onion and mushrooms in oil and butter until onions are until tender. Remove and set aside. Brown ground beef in the same pan; drain off excess fat. Sprinkle flour over ground beef; stir to blend.

Add liquid, onion, mushrooms, salt, and ketchup. Cook and stir until mixture is thickened; stir in sour cream and heat through. Serve over hot buttered noodles.
Serves 4.

Take a can of beef broth heat to boiling add a package of Lipton onion soup mix. Simmer 20 minutes.Turn on low and fold in a cup of sour cream. Add a small 4 oz. can of mushrooms if you like. Add a lb. of browned ground beef and serve hot over noodles. Prepare them per directions on pkg.

2 tsp. virgin olive oil,
1 can mushroom soup & then pour alittle milk in bottom of can this is just to get all the soup out,
1 large onion sliced & taken apart,
1 8 oz. or 1 lb. fresh mushrooms (you need to wash em & slice em,
1 8 oz. container sour cream
1 pkg. beef stew meat,
1/4c. to 1/2 c. flour,
shake the stew meat in a baggie the with the spices below-,
add 1/8 tsp.salt-according to your taste,
1/8 tsp. pepper,
pinch dry mustard

Fry the stew meat-coated with flour & spices in 2 tsp. of virgin olive oil in a fry pan until nicely browned you can start adding the onions, no need to drain off oil, then add mushrooms ( if using fresh mushrooms they cook down),
then add mushroom soup & alittle(couple Tbls.) milk in bottom of can & pour over all above ingredients,
finally add sour cream & mix throughly,
Simmer about 20 minutes or however long noodles cook),
Boil wheat macroni noodles (you can also use elbow, or egg noodles) according to directions,
Drain & serve the above ingredients ( stew meat,onions, mushrooms,mushroom soup, sour cream) over the top of noodles.

Good to serve a salad of your choice, maybe some crusty bread to mop up the plate. Oops sorry I've nevr used hamburger to make this. Enjoy & have a good night. :0)

I saute a little onion in butter add sour cream, a little beef base, pepper and then if this is to thick I add a little milk to thin to you likening. I don't add salt because the beef base has enough salt.

Add your meat and simmer a couple of minutes so that the meat will absorb the flavor of the sauce.
