Answers:
my sister made one of those - and it looked pretty impressive...

she made the main castle building out of 2 large rectangular sponge cakes, (u will need a fairly deep tin as u are looking to create a shape that's almost a cube) sandwiched together with cream / jam..... then she covered it in ready made fondant icing. u can buy it in blocks in supermarkets... it's usually white, but u can buy food colouring to mix into it... she made it pink . (few drops of red added to the white icing...) she then rolled out the icing and covered the main building with the pink fondant. when that was done, she added turrets to all 4 corners, using swiss rolls stood on end. she stuck ice cream cones on top of the swiss rolls to make the pointy roof shapes, and then covered those with fondant icing too.

when the main castle is assembled, and the turrets all stuck on, u can put details on like a door, windows, flowers up the side ..... use fondant icing in different colours, cut to the shapes that u want. u can also ice on things like window panes, door handles and flowers by using those ready made icing pens. stick the candles on the main 'roof' of the castle.

my sister also bought some little plastic princess figures to go round the outside.

good luck !!!

You can always modify it to a fairy castle! Good luck!

Bake a simple square sponge cake and stick 4 swiss rolls on each side for turrets - add icing, candles and sparkles and your away!

Our playschool just made one with sugar cubes and drizzled it with icing. It was fab.(and buy an ordinary cake to cut up for party bags)

Here are two cakes from kraftfoods.com that both are adorable and look fairly easy to make. Everything from this website is amazing! Either of them would make a wonderful fairy castle! Good Luck
