How can I prevent soggy waffles?!

Question:

How can I prevent soggy waffles?

When they come off the waffle iron, they are nice and crispy, but as soon as they cool off for a few seconds, they go soggy. How can I keep them crispy on the outside? Is it the ingredients I'm using?

Answers:
What recipe are you using?

You can try whipping egg whites and adding to the mix.
Your waffles may be a tad moist where the steam coming out of the waffles damp out the surface. Also, you can try cutting back on the liquid a little or boosting the leavening (baking powder) a touch.

you may be using too much of whatever liquid it calls for. let them cook a little longer next time to get the excess moisture out or cut back a little bit on how much liquids you add to the mix.

Are you covering the waffles while you fix the rest of the batch? You might also be undercooking them. Also, what I do, is heat my oven to low-320 and put the waffles on a cookie sheet while I'm doing the rest of them. They stay hot, and crispy. Do not stack them on top of each other either!

Try again!
