Suggest a sauce for my meatballs?

Swedish ones ... from Sainsbury. Not as nice as the ones from Ikea without sauce though.
Nothing tomato based either. Cheers.

Undiluted Cream of Mushroom soup is one of the easiest, best tasting sauce for small meatballs I've ever had. It is so good ! you have to at least try it.....yum

Hawaiian Meatballs

sauce
# 1 can (16 oz.) pineapple tidbits
# 1/2 cup brown sugar
# 1/2 cup vinegar
# 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
# 2 T. cornstarch
# 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
# 1 T. canola oil

Pour the canola oil into a small skillet. Add the chopped bell pepper and saute until barely tender; drain. Stir the green pepper, pineapple tidbits and meatballs into the prepared sauce. Cook for a minute or two to heat through. Serve as an appetizer or serve over rice for a meal.

Make sweet and sour meatballs
Sauce:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup beef bouillon
1/2 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 can (8 ounces) pineapple tidbits, drained
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
Begin sauce: Combine sugar, beef bouillon, vinegar, cornstarch, and 2 teaspoons soy sauce in a large deep skillet or Dutch oven; bring to a boil.

Boil sauce mixture until thickened; stir in pineapple, green pepper, and meatballs. Simmer for 30 minutes.

Rhubarb sauce... Mmm lovely

Have you ever tried Drunken meatballs? They are delicious and I'm not even a meatball fan. Just pour a bottle of ketchup into a pan add 1 16 oz bottle of flat beer, a little garlic powder and a nice big handfull of brown sugar. add meat balls and boil until done. very good. Marcy

Lingonberry Sauce...

fantastic with swedish meatballs...

my husband often jokes that we have so much Ikea crap in our house that people who come to dinner parties will wonder if we are serving swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce...

4 quarts lingonberries
2 cups water
3 lbs sugar

Pour off liquid on lingonberries.
Pick over berries carefully.
Place lingonberries in saucepan.
Add water.
Cover saucepan tightly and bring to boiling point. Cook slowly 15 minutes.
Remove from heat. Add sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved and sauce is cold.

If you like the Ikea version, then you can make a similar lingonberry sauce at home....lingonberry preserve (IKEA) and a home made cream based gravy....mix them and you have lingonberry sauce.
If you can't get lingonberry, cranberry is good too...
I used to work in Sweden and had to make the cranberry version when I got home cos there were no IKEAs in UK at that time!

My favorite way to make these wonderful meatballs is to use a can of cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 can of milk, stir together until smooth adding in a heaping spoon of sour cream just before serving. (Add a dash of nutmeg) Mix in your meatballs and serve over noodles and sprinkle with chopped parsley and you are ready to eat!
note: you can also use cream of chicken soup instead. If you are making alot of meatballs, just double the recipe.

I can think of two different one
1) cream or yogurt, small carton, 3/4spoon full of flour. mixed them together, and then put a cup fill of water, any spices you like. salt, pepper, sliced onion, garlic, ginger, coriander leaves, red pepper, chilly sauce etc, bring it to boil on slow heat, stirring all the time until the mixture thickens.your sauce is ready to use.
2) oil, sliced onion, garlic, ginger, red chilly, turmeric, powder,gram masala powder, yogurt. slice and fried the onion, when transparent, slow your cooker and add ginger and garlic paste, after two minuets add turmeric,red chili and gram masala powder after stirring for a couple of minuets add thoroughly beaten yogurt, keep stirring, then after 3/4 Minuit add one cup of water. cook it until the onions are dissolve, you can add your meat balls if raw Cook them for 25 minuets on slow fire, or already fried, they are ready to serve. garnish with coriander , parsley, mint etc

Marmalade Meat Balls

Ingredients
2 pounds fully cooked frozen meatballs (recommended: Armanino)
1 bottle (16-ounce) catalina salad dressing
1 cup orange marmalade
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions
Place frozen meatballs in the insert of a slow cooker. In a bowl, stir
to combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over meatballs and stir to coat. Cook on high setting for
2 to 3 hours.

For the tomato sauce
3 tbsp olive oil
110g/4oz onion, sliced
1 garlic clove, crushed
150g/5?oz fresh mozzarella, grated
1 tsp sugar
salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 x 400g/14oz cans tomatoes

Swedish Meatballs

INGREDIENTS

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground Turkey
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup cooked brown rice (mushed up for better texture)
1 egg white
1/2 cup 2% milk
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (I used whole wheat)
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup plain yogurt

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, bread crumbs, egg, and milk. Season with parsley, Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper. Mix well with your hands. Shape into walnut-size balls, and place on baking dish.
Bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven. Turn frequently so they brown evenly on all sides.
To make the sauce: In a saucepan, combine oil, flour, paprika, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper. Cook over medium heat until sizzling. Stir in hot water and yogurt until smooth and heated through.

When meatballs have cooked 30 minutes, pour sauce over the top, and return to the oven for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Heinz A-1 & grape jelly. Mix them together in a pot over low heat or preferably a slow cooker..... MMMM.... Enjoy!
