Who can tell me what spices may have been used?!

Question:

Who can tell me what spices may have been used?

A friend who visited Mexico on vacation was served fresh fruit like watermelon, jicama, melon sprinkled with fresh lime juice and spices ~ somewhat peppery.

Answers:
lime juice and tabasco is popular.
or chili powder.

Typically they use chile (not to be confused with "chili") powder on fresh fruit such as melon and mango. They don't use something super hot either, so it's more like the heat level of a chipotle.

My guess is that what flavors you tasted came from pico de gallo powdered seasoning and chilli powder. True pico de gallo is really a fruit salad. Try this:
1/2 of a cantaloupe
1 apple
1 cucumber
1 jicama
1/2 of a honeydew
2 oranges
4 limes, juiced
2-3 tablespoons "Pico de Gallo" powdered seasoning
Remove the peel from the orange and divide into sections. Remove the skins from the remaining fruits and vegetables. Chop into bite sized pieces. Toss them with lime juice and sprinkle the top with Pico de Gallo seasoning which can be found in the latin section of most grocery stores.

If you can't find it then try this:

3 tablespoons - ground chile
2 teaspoons - finely ground salt (more or less as desired)
1 teaspoon - crushed dried red chiles
1 teaspoon - finely crushed Mexican oregano
1/2 teaspoon - ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon - ground cumin
Mix the ground chiles and spices together and place in a decorative serving bowl with a small serving spoon for individual serving.

there a good chance that it is cumin
