What part of a pumpkin can you eat?!

Question:

What part of a pumpkin can you eat?

im going to make some thing that you need pumpkin for and im not sure what part of the pumpkin you can eat

Answers:
You can use the flesh and the seeds of a cooking type pumpkin. Make sure the pumpkin is labelled "Cooking," or else the result will be mostly water and very little usable pulp. Discard the stringy fibrous material, the tough peel, and the stem.

Pare the pumpkin like you would a potato, and cut into chunks. Steam until tender, or cook with a cup of water until you reach a good, thick consistency. Cool and puree in a blender for a smooth texture. Season according to your recipe instructions, or add brown sugar, allspice, cinnamon, and ground cloves to taste.

The seeds are good when washed thoroughly and placed in a single layer on a baking sheet. Pour a tablespoon of butter and a pinch of salt over them, then bake them at 300 degrees for about 45 minutes. Stir often, and if they start getting brown, take them out of the pan immediately.

the seeds and the flesh, not the stem. I would cut away the area around the stem and the area around the bottom stem ish thing. And maybe peel away the skin

The meat and the seeds.

pumpkin seeds
pumpkin pie or just cook with stew or soup or whatnot with the "squishy" part

Typically, you scoop out the seeds, and reserve them for toasting or whatever. Most recipes calling for pumpkin refer to the flesh.

Where you been hiding?Under a rock............Everyone knows you eat the seeds and the meat of a pumpkin...Now that you know what part you can eat do you know what you can make from it or will that be your next question?

Buy canned pumpkin; it is already prepared for you to add to your recipe.
OR!
Get shelled pumpkin seeds and make a trail mix or add them to a cookie recipe.

As far as I know the meat and seeds! They are really good sauteed. Certainly not the stem. All vegetables and fruit harbour salmonella poisoning in the stem.

You can eat the flesh inside and also the seeds are delicious roasted with a bit of salt for 350 F for 8-12 minutes. Your reciepe probably calls for the flesh

Undercover Brother Chef is always on the case!

the seedsa and the oute area. dont eat the stem or the guts

the stuff on the inside.

you have the seeds and whatever you call the other stuff (whatever it's called)

if the recipe doesn't say pumpkin seeds then use the other stuff.

the flesh of the pumpkin is what is used in pies, bread etc
and the seeds can be cleaned and roasted. They are very good.
