Question:

Do you put onions in tuna salad? What goes in a tuna salad?

Answers:
i like onions in tuna salad. i also put pickles (dill), mayo, celery and sometimes hard boiled eggs

yes you can spring onions are nice also sweetcorn

People put all kinds of different things, my favorite recipe:
Miracle Whip, onion, pickle relish, salt, pepper , and hard boiled eggs ~ mix all to taste into a dressing, add to tuna. Yum.

There's only one rule about what can be put into Tuna Salad: TUNA. Everything else is up to what you like.

You can add anything that you wish. I love minced onions, diced celery, chopped water chestnuts, chopped walnuts, chopped apples and even shredded carrots. Add a little sour cream to the mayo for a smoother base. Try the salad in a wrap, on a bed of spring greens or simply as a spread.

You can put onions in it but you do not have to. I like mine with onions,a little relish, salad dressing (miracle whip) instead on mayo. A little more tang. You can put pretty much anything in it, depends on your own taste. The basic reciepe is drained tuna, onions, mayo.

EW! I HATE ONIONS!

I don't like raw onions, but I love finely chopped celery or green pepper in tuna salad because it adds crunch. I like mine with a little garlic powder and lots of black pepper.

I do NOT recommend onions...what IS good is a little pickle relish (if you like it that is). It adds a little flavor. Oh and if you don't know (though you probably do) you always stir in a little mayo so it's not so dry. Hope this helps!

Yes. Depending on my mood also celery, finely chopped. Mayo, a bit of dijon mustard and for a little sweetness, sweet relish or an apple. A little salt and pepper.

Here is my recipe. But basically add what you like.
Basic Tuna Salad
1 egg
3 (6 ounce) cans tuna, drained and flaked
3 Tbs mayonnaise
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 Tbs sweet pickle relish
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 Place egg in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop.
2 In a medium bowl, mix together tuna and mayonnaise. Mix in egg, celery, relish and black pepper.
Servings: 4
Preparation time: 20 minutes

i make 2 different kinds this one will sound crazy but its really good,
tuna drained,1 small onion chopped,14 tsp celery seed or 1 rib celery chopped fine,1 can small sweet peas drained well and salad dressing like miracle whip 2 tlb or so just to pull it all together,,yummmmy

the other is
tuna drained
1 small onion chopped fine
celery same as above
pickles chopped fine
mayo same as above

so its all in what you like the top one is sort of got a tangy slightly sweet flavor very good
the second has no sweet sort of sour ,,,,creamy flavor

or you can not use the peas and add pickles to the top one as well be creative try one then the other some people use boiled eggs and pemento its all in what you like

I dont like raw onions in tuna fish. (bad enough to have tuna breath, let alone to add onions to it! LOL) Personally I like to add Helmans mayo, pickle relish, and hard boiled eggs, on white bread toast YUMMMMMM! Oh yeah, and instead of just mixing it with a fork I put it in my chopper and make it real smooth instead of chunky :)

It is a matter of taste. I don't like my salad too chunky so I put very finely chopped onions, finely chopped celery, mayo, a bit of mustard, and tuna that has been packed in oil.

i don't like onions. i put in celery, miracle whip, maybe a little diced pickle...

Yes you can put onions in it, some people put green onions. Some also have celery, green and red peppers.

you can if you like onions
i make mine with mayo tuna pickles and eggs

I make tuna salad with one can of tuna(drained), three hardboiled eggs(chopped), and enough mayo(light) for a creamy texture. This is how my mom made it. I think onions might be good with it. Try celery too.

Here's my basic tuna salad:
Tuna (water packed of course)
mayo
pickle relish or chopped pickles (i use either sweet or dill, depending on my mood)
chopped boiled egg
sliced black olives
minced celery
minced onion
